Highlights from this year’s Kwanzaa stamp dedication event are featured in a new video from the Postal Service.
Kwanzaa, which is celebrated each year from Dec. 26-Jan. 1, is based on seven principles: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility; cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
“Through its seven founding principles … Kwanzaa successfully melds communal traditions into a contemporary celebration of African-American culture,” says Government Relations and Public Policy Executive Director Stephanie Childs, who led the Oct. 10 ceremony in Raleigh, NC.
The 1-minute video also features comments from Blair Kelly, an assistant dean at North Carolina State University, which hosted the event.
