Eastern was the area leader in scanning during the week ending March 8, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.7 percent during the week ending March 8, down from one week earlier.

The top three areas were Eastern (97.89 percent), Western (97.85 percent) and Southern (97.67 percent). The top three districts were Dakotas (99.12 percent), Western Pennsylvania (98.52 percent) and Appalachian (98.37 percent).

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

All aboard. The Transcontinental Railroad stamps will be dedicated Friday, May 10, at the Golden Spike National Historic Site in Promontory Summit, UT.

USPS announced the stamps in January.
