Video features Marvin Gaye tribute

The Postal Service has released a video with highlights from the recent Marvin Gaye stamp dedication ceremony in Los Angeles.

“Marvin Gaye was one of the greatest singers and the greatest artists ever, in history,” Smokey Robinson says during 1-minute, 30-second segment. “I’m very proud to be here today … and I’m very proud that the world is still embracing Marvin Gaye.”

Berry Gordy, founder of the Motown record label, says that Gaye’s music “was pure and honest. If you heard his songs, you knew who he was and what he was going through at the time.”

The video also features comments from Antwaun Gay, Marvin’s brother, and Chief Postal Inspector Gary Barksdale, who led the ceremony.

The Marvin Gaye stamp, part of the Music Icons series, is available at Post Offices and usps.com.
