Stamps celebrate state, county events

The State and County Fairs stamps celebrate events that are annual traditions in communities across the nation. The four stamps work together as a single scene and as individual images.

The Postal Service is taking customers to the fair this summer.

The organization will release State and County Fairs — four stamps that celebrate the events that feature agricultural, horticultural and livestock exhibits, as well as carnival rides and food — on Thursday, July 25.

The four stamps are se-tenant, which means they work together as a single panoramic scene or as individual images.

The stamps show farmers unloading produce, a child sitting on a fence holding a chicken with carnival rides in the background, fairgoers admiring livestock, and children at a stand buying treats from a vendor.

Mike Ryan designed the stamps using whimsical, nostalgic art by Mick Wiggins. Greg Breeding served as the art director.

The stamps will be available at Post Offices and usps.com.
