Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.76 percent during the week ending Sept. 27, up from one week earlier.

Western (97.98 percent) led the areas, while Dakotas (99.12 percent) topped the districts.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail, and it helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

To see the latest results, go to the Informed Visibility site and select “Customer Experience,” followed by “DES 2 Scan Performance.” Employees must request access to Informed Visibility through eAccess.

Holiday help. The Postal Service blog, Postal Posts, is all about the holidays.

Now through December, the blog will feature posts each week to help keep employees and customers informed on peak season operations, as well as ways to make the holidays a little easier.

Customers can check Postal Posts to learn about Operation Santa, holiday stamps, package shipping deadlines, ways to protect packages, tips to avoid shipping glitches, how to help carriers deliver to your door safely, and more.

The first seasonal post offers how-to tips on addressing and mailing packages, purchasing stamps and more.

Columbus Day. USPS is providing general operating policy and planning guidance for the Columbus Day holiday, which will be observed Monday, Oct. 14.

A new memo, available on Blue, explains guidelines for delivery, retail, processing and logistics operations.
