October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a time to ensure everyone has the resources they need to stay safe and secure online.
Here are some tips from the CyberSafe at USPS team:
• Secure it. Secure your Postal Service-issued electronic devices through encryption, passphrases and the use of a virtual private network.
• Separate for security. For business purposes, use only USPS-issued equipment, laptops and phones at work and use a wall outlet to charge them.
• Don’t install unauthorized software. WhatsApp and other social media applications aren’t allowed on Postal Service-issued electronic devices.
• Protect postal data. Always keep data protection top of mind. Don’t store sensitive and sensitive-enhanced materials on USPS equipment unless explicitly authorized to do so.
• Beware of tricksters. Whether by email, text message or voicemail, cybercriminals are hoping to trick you into giving away sensitive information. Don’t let your “social engineering” tools be used against you.
