Wait, there’s ‘Mo’!

Video showcases USS Missouri stamp

Highlights from the June dedication ceremony for the USS Missouri stamp are featured in a new Postal Service video.

The stamp honors the famed World War II battleship — affectionately called “Mighty Mo” by her crew — that hosted military officials from the United States, the Allied powers, and the Empire of Japan in a surrender ceremony that ended World War II in September 1945.

“The Missouri and her crew absolutely exemplify our Navy core values of honor, courage and commitment both in the defense of our nation and in keeping the peace,” Rear Adm. Brian Fort of U.S. Navy Region Hawaii says in the video.

The 1-minute, 38-second segment also includes comments from Michael Carr, the Missouri Memorial Association’s president and chief executive officer, and Jeffrey Johnson, the Postal Service’s enterprise analytics vice president.
