Great Lakes was the area leader in scanning during the week ending Dec. 27, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Same time, next year. Link’s first scanning snapshot of 2020 looks a lot like the last snapshot of 2019.

The data shows the national score for the week ending Dec. 27 was 97.6 percent, down from 97.78 percent during the week ending Dec. 20.

The top three areas last week were Great Lakes (97.94 percent), Western (97.87 percent) and Northeast (97.79 percent) — just like the previous week, although each area’s average score dipped.

Similarly, the top three districts were Dakotas (98.93 percent), Central Plains (98.39 percent) and Greater Michigan (98.31 percent). These districts also dominated the rankings during the week ending Dec. 20, although the average scores were lower here, too.

Scanning data allows customers to track their mail and packages, which helps USPS deliver excellent service, boost loyalty and drive revenue.

To see the latest data, go to the Informed Visibility website and select “Customer Experience,” followed by “DES 2 Scan Performance.”

Safety first. Postal Bulletin’s first edition of 2020 features winter safety tips, Domestic Mail Manual revisions on cremated remains and pull-out information for invalid USPS corporate account numbers, among other highlights.

Ringing in the new. Northeast Area Vice President Eric Chavez was joined by several Postal Service employees during a ceremony to ring the opening bell at the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York City on Christmas Eve.

The group included employees who performed heroic acts during 2019, as well as employees who marked milestones during the year and those involved with Operation Santa, the annual program that allows customers to grant the holiday wishes of those in need.
