Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rate reached 97.91 percent during the week ending Jan. 10, up more than three-tenths of a percentage point from one week earlier.
For the second consecutive week, Western (98.17 percent) led the areas and Dakotas (99.14 percent) topped the districts.
Major gainers among the 67 districts included Hawkeye (98.49 percent), which moved into fourth place from the 17th slot a week earlier, and Greater Michigan (98.41 percent), which climbed from 21st to 11th place.
Scanning data allows customers to track their mail and packages, which helps USPS deliver excellent service, boost loyalty and drive revenue.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day. USPS is providing managers, supervisors and others with general operating policy and planning guidance for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday that will be observed Monday, Jan. 20.
A new memo, available on Blue, explains guidelines for delivery, retail, processing, international service, maintenance and logistics operations.
Stamps reminder. Big Bend, a $7.75 Priority Mail stamp, and Grand Island Ice Caves, a $26.35 Priority Mail Express stamp, will be issued Saturday, Jan. 18. No national dedication ceremonies are planned.
Fore! Speaking of stamps: USPS announced this week the Arnold Palmer stamp will be released Wednesday, March 4, and dedicated that day during the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, FL.
