Caring and sharing

The Postal Service will spotlight its lead-sharing program for retail associates and machine and distribution clerks during Clerks Care Week, which is March 9-13.

USPS districts across the country will hold events during the week to thank associates and clerks for contributing to the program, which has generated more than $982 million in estimated annualized revenue since it began in 2013.

“During Clerks Care Week, we’ll show clerks and retail associates how important they have been — and continue to be — to the success of our organization and encourage them to continue to find and submit leads for our sales team,” said Mary Anderson, small-business engagement director at USPS headquarters in Washington, DC.

This year, Clerks Care Week is part of Race for a $Billion, the Postal Service’s campaign to raise $1 billion in estimated annualized revenue through sales leads from employees.

More than $398 million has been raised since the fiscal year began in October, including almost $120 million through Clerks Care.

The Sales Blue page has an updated ranking of all USPS districts in the Race for a $Billion campaign, as well as more information about Clerks Care and other lead generation programs.

May Quach, a retail associate in Glendale, CA, was recently honored for finding a lead that resulted in more $82,000 in revenue for the Postal Service.

Since 2014, Quach has submitted 16 leads — three of them totaling more than $170,000 in revenue — through Clerks Care.

“I love my job because I love to help people,” Quach said. “But I know that my job doesn’t end there. I also want to help the Postal Service. I encourage all employees to submit leads because this helps generate revenue for USPS.”

Our ‘Heroes’

Link was honored last week for its work to inform — and inspire — Postal Service employees.

Heroes’ Corner,” the column about USPS workers who perform heroic deeds, received the top honor in the article series category in Ragan’s Employee Communications Awards, a national competition for corporate and government communications professionals.

Additionally, Link received an honorable mention in the print or digital newsletter category.

“Every day, the Link team works to provide Postal Service employees with the news and information they need to serve our customers. I’m proud to see Link and ‘Heroes’ Corner’ receive this recognition, and I thank the team and everyone else who helps us tell the stories of the men and women of this organization,” said USPS Corporate Communications Vice President Janice Walker.

The award winners were announced Feb. 28. Other honorees included Bayer, Capital One, Coca-Cola, Liberty Mutual, Visa and Whirlpool.

Ragan, based in Chicago, provides training, newsletters, seminars and awards for people who work in employee communications, public relations, social media and other fields.

We have a winner

Annette Atkin, a business alliances manager in Pacific Area’s Santa Ana District, is the first USPS employee in 2020 to earn a complimentary registration to this year’s National Postal Forum (NPF).

Atkin registered five eligible customers through the NPF Employee Customer Recruitment Program, which aims to bring customers who have never attended the forum — or customers who have not attended within the past year — to the event.

This is the third consecutive year Atkin has secured a complimentary registration to NPF, placing her in an exclusive category of recruiters.

Atkin said she bases her recruiting strategy on the trust that she has built with her customers.

“If a company is looking at vendors that are all equal, they will do business with people they trust with their business,” she said. “This saying transcends into getting customers to the NPF. Every time I leave the event, a new opportunity or relationship is created through the synergistic meetings and interaction with customers and USPS executives at NPF.”

This year, NPF will be held from April 26-29 in Orlando, FL.
