The interest arbitration panel chaired by Arbitrator Stephen Goldberg has notified the Postal Service that it has reached a decision and an award.
The award is intended to resolve the differences between USPS and the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) that resulted from an inability to reach a negotiated collective bargaining agreement after the prior agreement expired Sept. 20, 2018.
The award, which was the result of a legally mandated binding arbitration process that occurred when the Postal Service and APWU reached a collective bargaining impasse, has resulted in a contract covering approximately 200,000 employees in the clerk, motor vehicle and maintenance crafts.
The contract is effective March 10.
The Postal Service is evaluating the award.
