Video shows Gwen Ifill stamp ceremony

The Postal Service has released a video with highlights from the recent Gwen Ifill stamp dedication ceremony.

“It is extremely fitting that Gwen’s beautiful face is on a Forever stamp. She will forever be in our hearts and now will forever be in the consciousness of this great nation. Countless envelopes will go from one part of America to another with her likeness on them,” Eric Holder Jr., formerly a U.S. attorney general, says in the video.

The ceremony, held Jan. 30, honored Ifill, a barrier-breaking journalist known for her integrity and thoughtful approach to reporting the news.

Other speakers shown include Deputy Postmaster General Ronald Stroman; Judy Woodruff, Ifill’s “PBS NewsHour” co-anchor; and Ifill’s counsin, Sherrilyn Ifill, president of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

The stamp, part of the Black Heritage series, features a 2008 photograph of Ifill and is available at Post Offices and usps.com.
