In a special video message, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and postal union presidents discuss the Postal Service’s new leadership task force on election-related mail and the organization’s commitment to delivering this mail securely and on time.

The task force will help the organization work with election officials across the nation, including addressing issues relating to voter education and best practices in administering mail-in voting for the 2020 election.

In addition to DeJoy, the video features Fredric Rolando, president of the National Association of Letter Carriers; Ronnie Stutts, president of the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association; Mark Dimondstein, president of the American Postal Workers Union; and Paul Hogrogian, president of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union.

The Delivering America’s Election Mailvideo, which USPS released Sept. 10, is available on Link and other postal websites and will be shown to employees in postal facilities during the next two weeks.

Patriot Day

President Donald Trump has ordered U.S. flags flown at half-staff Friday, Sept. 11, to honor victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

USPS facilities are required to fly the flag at half-staff this day, which is also known as Patriot Day.

To fly the flag at half-staff, hoist the flag to the peak for an instant and then lower it to the half-staff position.

The flag should be raised to the peak again before it’s lowered for the day.

For additional information, refer to the Postal Service’s Administrative Support Manual, which explains the organization’s guidelines on U.S. flag display and maintenance.

Postal Service employees can participate in an upcoming webinar to learn about the practice of mindfulness.

The session, “Modern Day Mindfulness,” will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, at noon EDT.

CareFirst and the Virginia Hospital Center will conduct the webinar and provide an overview of the art of mindfulness, including what it is and exercises to practice it, as well as why mindfulness is important in everyday life.

The webinar will show participants how to be “present” in the moment and how to not get lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Participants should use the Google Chrome browser to register before the event on the webinar website.

After signing up, directions on accessing the webinar will be emailed to each registrant.

Participation is voluntary. Non-exempt employees may only participate off the clock or during authorized breaks.
