Implementation date to be announced after holidays

The implementation date for revised First-Class Package Service standards will be announced after the holidays.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic and the delta variant’s effect on customers, the Postal Service will announce the implementation date for the revised First-Class Package Service standards after the holiday shipping season.

The new service standards, announced in June, are designed to improve use of surface transportation, while decreasing reliance on costly and less dependable air delivery.

The changes are in alignment with Delivering for America, the Postal Service’s new 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence.

In April 2020, Priority Mail’s two-day and three-day service commitments were extended to three days and four days, respectively, to account for the effects of the pandemic. First-Class Package Service two-day and three-day service commitments were also extended to three and four days, respectively.

These standards will remain in place until further notice.
