Offices promote holiday business services

A customer speaks to Shawna Kitt, customer services supervisor at Fenkell Station in Detroit.

Shawna Kitt recently brought out one of her favorite holiday displays: a table.

“I placed [it in] the retail lobby to optimize the number of customers stopping for information,” said Kitt, a USPS customer services supervisor who works at Fenkell Station in Detroit.

In addition to festive decorations, she decked the table out with information about postal products and services.

Fenkell Station and other Post Offices in Michigan 1 District use the early peak season weeks to host Grow Your Business Day events for small businesses.

That’s why Kitt strategically set up her table in the box section of the Post Office.

“Most of the box customers have a business or know someone with a small business,” she said.

Grow Your Business Day events help generate business leads for the Postal Service.

“The leads from these events will be entered in the system for proper follow-up with the customer by the sales team,” Kitt said.

Tanisha Coleman, a business development specialist at Seven Oaks Station in Detroit, said the leads all add up.

“Every lead submitted through our employee engagement programs counts,” she said.
