Digital hub upgrade

Facilities Database project underway

More than 55 applications interface with the Facilities Database.

The Facilities Database, the central source of information about all the facilities in the Postal Service, is being upgraded.

The Office of Continuous Improvement seeks to enhance, automate, streamline or otherwise improve vital modules within the database, also known as the FDB.

More than 55 applications interface with the FDB’s 30-plus modules, including the Post Office locator and the service delivery calculator on usps.com.

Because of its wide reach, system accuracy on the FDB is imperative: It improves customer service and brand visibility, maximizes revenue opportunities and has an effect on the National Performance Assessment.

Updates are planned for the Integrated Emergency Management Module, the Products and Services Module, the Facility Information Module, the Facility Times Module and the File Generator Utility.

Continuous Improvement is taking a Design for Six Sigma black belt approach to the project and is open to suggestions for improving the digital hub.

Employees with ideas on ways to improve the FDB should contact Continuous Improvement Specialist Kristy Anderson at Kristy.L.Anderson@usps.gov.
