The Postal Service is making major improvements to better serve its shipping customers, Chief Commerce and Business Solutions Officer Jacqueline Krage Strako told industry leaders last week.
Under Delivering for America, the organization’s 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence, USPS is creating an integrated mailing and shipping network that will allow it to offer faster, more reliable package deliveries.
“Customer centricity is what we are all about,” she said.
Strako spoke June 15 at Home Delivery World, a retail supply chain and logistics conference in Philadelphia that brings together more than 5,000 industry leaders from across North America.
She explained that the Postal Service’s network transformation is allowing the organization to create efficiencies and keep rates affordable.
One example is USPS Ground Advantage, an upcoming offering that will allow customers to ship packages in 2-5 business days.
Calling it “a simple, reliable, affordable product,” Strako said USPS Ground Advantage will allow the organization to capitalize on its ability to deliver to more than 160 million addresses every day.
The Postal Service will also continue to expand another other new offering, USPS Connect Local, that offers businesses affordable next-day delivery, as well as same-day delivery, Sunday delivery and pickup options.
The bottom line, Strako said, is the organization can now deliver a compelling pitch to business customers: “We have to go down every street in America every day, so the sustainable solution is to give your volume to the Postal Service.”
