Pulaski, VA, Letter Carrier Mark Hines

Letter Carrier Mark Hines was delivering mail on a recent Saturday in Pulaski, VA, when he heard a customer yelling for help from inside her garage.

Hines stopped to aid the woman, who was seriously injured in a fall and was relying on his timely arrival in order to get help.

The customer asked Hines to call her pastor, who had her spare garage door opener and soon arrived to assist.

Upon opening the door and seeing the woman’s condition, the pastor called 911, and paramedics were dispatched to take her to a hospital.

Both the customer — who had feared for her life — and a member of her family later called the local Post Office to thank Hines for his alertness and dependability.
