Brenda Miller recently had a certified letter for a customer who was routinely at home at delivery time, so the rural carrier was concerned when she knocked on the door and got no answer.
She heard noises, though, so she looked through a window and saw the customer on the floor.
Miller opened the door and offered to help the woman, who had fallen while home alone and was on the phone calling 911.
The postal employee stayed with the woman and provided first aid until emergency responders arrived. She also contacted the customer’s husband, who was out of town.
