As the Vandalia, OH, Post Office geared up for the holiday season last year, Retail Associate Yusra Bellis learned of several needy children in the community and decided she wanted to make a difference for them.
Bellis used her own funds to purchase backpacks, along with contents such as snacks, toiletries and small toys.
Letter carriers delivered the backpacks to the kids — a gesture that “brought joy to some little boys and girls who may not have had anything else to open for Christmas,” said Vandalia Postmaster Nathan Walker.
He added that Bellis is known for “selfless acts of kindness, which show her peers and the community what a postal employee exemplifies.”
