A letter carrier delivering mail in Albuquerque, NM, recently alerted motorists to a sinkhole that appeared and eventually grew to about 6 feet in diameter. Christopher Jaramillo parked his postal vehicle near the sinkhole to discourage drivers from getting near it, and a nearby resident reported that he flagged her down to ensure her safety. Officials blamed the sinkhole on a collapsed sewer line.
Employees featured in “Heroes’ Corner” also receive letters of commendation through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program. The nomination form is available on Blue.
