Cold hold

Chanute, KS, Letter Carrier Kimberly Pryor

Letter Carrier Kimberly Pryor was delivering mail on a 12-degree day last month in Chanute, KS, when she spotted a toddler standing in the middle of an icy street.

Pryor rushed to check on the girl, who was wearing only a T-shirt and diaper, and immediately wrapped her in a coat while calling the local Post Office.

As police were dispatched to the scene, Pryor held the child and tried unsuccessfully to locate a caregiver.

“Kim provided warmth and comfort for a very scared and very cold little girl,” said Chanute Postmaster Adam Tromsness.
