A Postal Service customer in Osceola Mills, PA, recently became trapped on his roof as he tried to escape a fire at his two-story home.
The man was on his cellphone calling 911 when Letter Carrier David Peckowych came by delivering mail.
The customer asked him for help getting down from the roof, so Peckowych located a neighbor with a ladder.
They led the man to safety, assisted by paramedics who quickly arrived on the scene ahead of firefighters.
The local NBC station reported that three dogs and a cat perished in the blaze.
