Drenched and desperate

City Carrier Assistant Bradley Woods was delivering mail on a stormy February day in Selmer, TN, when he heard someone yelling for help.

Woods looked around and saw a hand waving from behind a tree in a customer’s yard.

He rushed over and found an older woman who’d fallen several hours earlier, leaving her soaking wet and desperate for help.

The Postal Service employee safely got the customer on her feet and guided her inside her residence.

She declined his offer to call for additional assistance.

“Without Bradley’s help, this elderly lady could have easily frozen to death as temperatures plunged overnight,” said Selmer Postmaster Crystal Scott. “We are proud to have him as an exemplary employee and a true hero.”
