Napa, CA, Letter Carrier Elsa Garcia was recently on an early morning run before work when she encountered a 28-year-old man in distress — clinging to the side of an overpass and threatening to harm himself.
Garcia flagged down another passerby, who called 911, and stayed with the man, offering prayers and words of encouragement.
At the request of emergency responders, Garcia remained on the scene for two hours, until some of the man’s friends and family members could get there.
After 15 hours, the man came down safely and was hospitalized for physical and psychiatric evaluations.
