Eskew to the rescue

Rural Carrier Associate Joseph Eskew was delivering mail on a frigid December day in Riner, VA, when he spotted a 92-year-old customer who had fallen in her driveway.

Eskew rushed to check on the woman, who asked him to help her back to her house.

He safely carried her inside and called 911, as well as her daughter.

Emergency responders and the customer’s daughter soon arrived on the scene.

The daughter later told the Postal Service employee that her mother had suffered a broken hip and would require surgery.

The customer is recovering from the incident.
