Letter Carrier Sharon Lindsley was recently delivering mail in Cupertino, CA, when her vehicle broke down and started emitting smoke.

After exiting the vehicle and alerting her supervisor, Lindsley spotted flames.

She immediately called 911 and rushed to remove mail before the flames intensified, requiring her to keep a safe distance.

Lindsley notified the Post Office of the escalated emergency and remained on the scene until firefighters arrived, as well as a replacement vehicle.

No mail was lost in the incident.
