Heart-starters

Petoskey, MI, Retail Associate Luisangela Mejia and Carrier Technician Buck Anthony earlier this year

Carrier Technician Buck Anthony and Retail Associate Luisangela Mejia were on duty earlier this year at the Petoskey, MI, Post Office when a crisis erupted:

One of their colleagues, Custodian Troy Schramm, collapsed on the workroom floor.

Anthony rushed to Schramm’s side and, finding no pulse or respiration, asked for 911 to be called and for assistance with CPR.

Mejia immediately joined Anthony to administer CPR and use an automated external defibrillator on their co-worker.

Paramedics soon arrived and took Schramm to a hospital.

They credited Anthony and Mejia with saving his life.

“If it weren’t for quick action by Buck and Luisangela, Troy would not be here now,” said Petoskey Postmaster Chris Nathan.
