Ice scream

Troy, OH, Customer Services Supervisor Ethan Garland and Letter Carrier Amber Greenberg

Letter Carrier Amber Greenberg was delivering mail on a February day in Troy, OH, when she heard someone scream.

Seeing that a customer had slipped on ice and seriously injured herself, Greenberg rushed to her aid.

Customer Services Supervisor Ethan Garland was driving nearby at the time, and he immediately stopped to assist Greenberg, who was calling 911.

They comforted the customer until paramedics arrived and took her to a hospital, then secured the woman’s home for her.

A neighbor who’d heard the woman screaming subsequently wrote a social media post about the incident, praising Greenberg and Garland: “Their teamwork in this effort was exemplary.”

“I don’t know the names of these people, but it was very obvious that they care,” he observed. “We just hardly see that in people anymore these days. They are to be greatly commended for what they did.”

The injured customer is recovering.
