When he recently came upon a raging brush fire, Homosassa, FL, Letter Carrier Jason Miller knew that calling 911 wouldn’t be enough to ensure that nearby residents were out of harm’s way.
As emergency responders made their way to the scene, Miller rushed from door to door to alert residents to the danger.
It took units from multiple agencies to bring the blaze under control. Miller spread the word as he continued delivering the mail.
“I’m just glad everybody was safe and they didn’t lose anything,” Miller told the Citrus County Chronicle.
Homeowner David Veres praised Miller’s heroics.
“He saved their lives pretty much,” Veres said. “He went above and beyond.”
