Jonathan Walker, Fredonia, KS

Man wearing USPS uniform stands in postal workroom

City Carrier Assistant Jonathan Walker was recently delivering mail in Fredonia, KS, when he saw an out-of-control pickup truck crash into a mailbox before coming to a stop.

Walker rushed to the vehicle and recognized the driver as a customer — who was unconscious and apparently suffering a seizure — accompanied by two young children.

The Postal Service employee put the truck in park, turned off the ignition and alerted a nearby resident, who called 911.

Walker stayed with the accident victims until emergency responders arrived, then he notified a family friend of the emergency.
