Letter Carrier Susan Pineault was recently delivering mail at an apartment complex in Keene, NH, when she heard someone yelling for help.
Pineault spotted an older woman who had fallen inside her unit and managed to crawl to a sliding glass door and open it slightly in hopes of getting assistance.
The Postal Service employee rushed to aid the customer, getting her safely up and out of harm’s way.
The woman’s daughter-in-law later mailed a letter of thanks to the local Post Office.
“I know this is far above her duty and we so much appreciate her valiant effort and kindness,” she wrote.
