Letter Carrier Jackie Ernest was recently delivering mail in Ontonagon, MI, when she heard someone yelling for help inside an apartment.

Ernest momentarily found that an older customer was lying on the floor, unable to lift herself.

The Postal Service employee safely got the woman into a sitting position and called 911.

Paramedics soon arrived and took the customer to a hospital, where she was treated for a stroke.

She is recovering from the incident.
