Letter Carrier Georgeanna Graham was recently delivering mail in a Palmyra, NY, neighborhood when she detected an odor of gas outside a customer’s home.
Graham immediately knocked on the woman’s door and alerted her to the issue.
Utility workers soon discovered and repaired a gas leak at the address.
“The customer was very appreciative of Georgeanna’s concern and action, and she wanted her to be recognized for her potentially life-saving deed,” said Palmyra Postmaster Jillene Koeberle.
