Two customers hailed City Carrier Assistant Pierce Hodges as a “kind and gentle” lifesaver for his actions on a recent hot day in Kernersville, NC.
The married couple were both recovering after hospitalizations, and the wife fell outside during her return home.
Her husband, seriously ill and weakened by surgery, was unable to help her get up, and she soon became sickened by the heat.
Hodges was the first passerby to stop and help the couple, and the man later contacted the Kernersville Post Office to express their gratitude.
