Letter Carrier Gail Ruthruff was recently delivering mail in a Grand Rapids, MI, neighborhood when she spotted an 80-year-old customer lying on the floor inside his residence.
Ruthruff knocked on the man’s window and got no response.
Finding the front door unlocked, she hurried inside to check on him, called 911 and stayed with him until paramedics arrived.
The customer, who had fallen several days earlier, was treated for rib and vertebral fractures.
He is recovering from the incident.
