Joseph, OR, Contract Delivery Service Carrier Renee Eschler was on the job earlier this year in the remote community of Imnaha when she discovered a woman who had fallen near her mailbox.
The customer — who had broken her femur, leaving her stranded on snow-covered ground for an hour — greeted Eschler with these words: “I knew you would be here.”
With no cellphone service in the area, Eschler located neighbors who called 911 from a landline and provided additional assistance on the scene.
Eschler gave the customer a sweatshirt for warmth and stayed with the neighbors to comfort her while paramedics made a 90-minute trek to the location.
The woman is recovering from the incident.
