Roadside assistance

Edgewood, IA, Retail Associate Kimberly Goranson

Edgewood, IA, Retail Associate Kimberly Goranson was recently taking mail to a remotely managed Post Office when she spotted a runner being attacked by two dogs alongside a highway.

Goranson stopped, safely intervened and sheltered the woman in the postal vehicle.

The runner, who was visiting her parents, asked Goranson to drive her to their home nearby.

The woman’s parents later took her to a hospital.

“Had Kim not come upon the situation and stopped to assist, the injuries would have been much worse,” said Edgewood Postmaster Stacey Haight.

The runner is recovering from the incident.
