San Jose ‘superhero’

Letter Carrier Ignacio Rosas III was recently delivering mail in a San Jose, CA, neighborhood when he spotted a house on fire.

Rosas immediately called 911 and rushed to alert occupants of nearby homes threatened by the flames, including one residence that housed a children’s day care center.

Firefighters soon arrived to battle the blaze, in which the homeowner perished.

Customers visited the local Post Office the following day to give Rosas a poster signed with expressions of gratitude from many denizens of the neighborhood.

In block letters, it read: “IGNACIO, YOU ARE AWESOME!”

“It was a proud moment when they called him a superhero for kids,” said Ranjit Kaur, the location’s acting customer services manager.

Employees featured in “Heroes’ Corner” also receive letters of commendation through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program. The nomination form is available on Blue.
