El Paso, IL, City Carrier Assistant Michael Zeleznik

City Carrier Assistant Michael Zeleznik was recently making deliveries in an El Paso, IL, neighborhood when he noticed that a home’s front porch was on fire.

Zeleznik immediately called 911 and banged on a window to alert residents to the danger.

Firefighters soon arrived and extinguished the blaze before it spread.

“The house was saved by Michael’s quick response,” said Dustin Pierce, the local postmaster.
