City Carrier Assistant Joseph Beaird was recently making a delivery at a residence in Little Rock, AR, when he came upon an older customer in jeopardy.
When Beaird rang the man’s doorbell, he heard him yell for help, and he spotted him lying on the floor inside at the foot of a stairway.
The customer, who had fallen over 24 hours earlier, implored the Postal Service employee to enter through an open side door.
Beaird rushed to the man’s side, found him bleeding from head and leg lacerations, called 911 and comforted him until emergency responders arrived.
The customer recovered from the incident after spending several days in a hospital.
