Stopping the spread

Letter Carrier Anessa Darby was recently delivering mail at an apartment complex in Lincoln, NE, when she spotted smoke billowing from a garage.

Darby immediately alerted a maintenance staff member, who called 911.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to put out the blaze, which was caused by an electrical malfunction.

A resident of the complex later contacted the local Post Office to thank Darby for taking quick action and preventing the fire from spreading.
