Letter Carrier Tamaria Gardner was recently delivering mail in a Charlotte, NC, neighborhood when she spotted an unconscious customer facedown on a sidewalk.
Gardner rushed to the woman’s side and called 911.
The Postal Service employee stayed with the customer, who soon came to, and encouraged her to stay awake until emergency responders arrived.
“It doesn’t take much to be kind,” Gardner later told Spectrum News, which covered a local ceremony honoring her and a co-worker who also received a PMG Hero commendation letter, for responding to a house fire.
“All you have to do is have an eye and a heart.”
