Letter Carrier Theresa Durham was delivering on her route in Modesto, CA, when she noticed a previously delivered parcel still sitting on an elderly customer’s porch.
The postal employee’s suspicions were further aroused when she spied a grocery delivery out there with it.
This caused Durham to be concerned, so she reached out to her supervisor, who contacted the police.
Officers found the 83-year-old resident had fallen two days prior and was unable to get up by himself. There was no one to assist him at home.
A heater had been left on during his ordeal, so he was brought to the hospital to be checked for dehydration.
The officers later contacted the supervisor to praise Durham’s judgment, crediting her with saving the man’s life.
