Up lifting

Whitewater, WI, Letter Carrier Thomas Haugen

Letter Carrier Thomas Haugen was delivering mail recently in Whitewater, WI, when he spotted a customer crawling through her doorway.

Haugen rushed to check on the woman, who had fallen and couldn’t stand up on her own.

The Postal Service employee safely got the woman to her feet and inside her home.

The customer declined medical attention and asked Haugen to call her daughter-in-law, who soon arrived to provide further assistance.

The daughter-in-law later contacted the Postal Service to acknowledge Haugen’s assistance, writing that she was “so grateful that he was there.”

She added that he asked the right questions and made sure her mother-in-law wasn’t self-conscious about the incident, concluding with “a very big thank you to Tom from the entire family!”
