Wife saver

Letter Carrier Christopher Surla was recently delivering mail in Metairie, LA, when he came upon a customer who’d fallen while taking a walk in her neighborhood.

Surla rushed to the woman’s house around the corner to let her husband know she was injured.

The man took his wife to an emergency room for treatment of a cut that required stitches.

He later contacted USPS to acknowledge “plenty of positive things” employees like Surla do.

“Thanks to you and your people,” he wrote. “God bless the USA.”

Employees featured in “Heroes’ Corner” also receive letters of commendation through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program. The nomination form is available on Blue.
