Wood does customer a solid

Rural Carrier Tana Wood was recently delivering mail on an icy day in Frazee, MN, when she spotted an older customer lying on the ground outside a residence.

Wood rushed to check on the woman, who had slipped when exiting her vehicle and had spent a half-hour crawling to a visible area in hopes of being seen.

Unable to safely lift the customer, the Postal Service employee called 911 and remained on the scene until emergency responders arrived to provide further assistance.

The woman later sent flowers the local Post Office and told the postmaster how grateful she was for Wood’s help.

Employees featured in “Heroes’ Corner” also receive letters of commendation through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program. The nomination form is available on Blue.
