Yes, pressure

City Carrier Assistant Matthew Malecki was recently delivering mail to an older customer’s residence when he spotted the woman inside on the floor.

Finding her unconscious and bleeding profusely from a head wound, Malecki immediately called 911 and followed the dispatcher’s first aid instructions.

The customer came to as the Postal Service employee applied pressure to the wound with a clean towel, and he kept her alert until paramedics arrived and took over.

It was determined that the woman, who takes a blood thinner and relies on a walker, had fallen on a stairway.

A paramedic credited Malecki with saving the life of the woman, who recovered from the incident and moved to a nursing home.
