Older Americans Month began May 1. This year’s theme, “Get Into the Act,” reflects how older adults are taking charge of their health, getting involved in their communities and helping others.
The theme also reflects the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act. This law, signed by President Johnson, paved the way for better social and nutrition services for older people, along with assistance for their caregivers.
