Phishing attacks not only are on the rise, they also are growing more sophisticated in the ways they try to steal sensitive information or infect recipients’ devices with viruses.
Postal Service technology blocks many of these attacks, but employees also play an important role.
Follow these tips to avoid falling for a phishing trap:
- Don’t open an email unless you know the sender or recognize his or her organization.
- Question odd messages that are unrelated to your normal work activities or require immediate calls to action from outside USPS.
- Don’t type your Postal Service username and password into unknown sites.
- Scroll over the link to see where it would send you before clicking.
Employees also are asked to keep in mind the central message of the CyberSafe at USPS campaign — “Remember to Stop. Think. Before you Connect.”
